Jim Carlisle

Jim has been a management consultant for over 30 years, including 12 years as a Partner with Ernst and Young, and currently as a Director of Western Management Consultants of Ontario.

The coaching practice developed during the time with Ernst and Young and is now the core focus of his work. Jim’s expertise is in executive development (time management, staff development, leadership skills, dealing with change), and career planning.

Jim is a member of the International Coaching Federation, and is certified in the Co-Pilot Professional Coaching System. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified management Consultants.

A representative client list includes individual executives and teams from Ivey School of Business, Ernst and Young, Xerox, ACTRA, Baton Broadcasting, Divergent and Workman’s Compensation Board of Alberta. All of the engagements have been at the senior level.

A typical assignment starts out with a traditional interview followed by an agreement on issues, drawing up a gameplan, and timing of meetings in person and on the phone. Jim’s approach is forthright, with plenty of questions, playback and providing stimulating approaches to the challenge at hand. Most of the interaction is verbal and each session has an objective with documented outputs.

Jim also manages a very extensive executive search practice, and this provides added value in terms of networking and knowledge of leadership issues. He is currently Chairman of World Search Alliance, a network of 30 owner managed executive search firms around the world.

His book, “A.I.M.- Achieve, Inspire and Make a Difference”, published by Wiley & Sons, will be in circulation in early 2010.

Engagient provided a safe environment for managers to openly share comments, issues and concerns related to the workplace culture and practices. Facilitation and careful probing by Engagient staff provided our managers with the view and challenges facing senior leadership and how managers may be helpful in the process, identifying opportunities to enhance their leadership skills.

The engagement exceeded all expectations.
